Cheap Proofreading Tips – Don’t pad out the action

Writing tips: don’t pad out the action

The sniper climbed up into the bell tower.

It was a 16th century bell tower and had been built by some nice people who liked bells and liked to be woken up real pigging early each day ….. and so on for 2 pages at least.

The sniper finally aimed and took the shot – after yawning at the story of the builders of the bell tower.

Try and cut out the culture nonsense, and don’t break up the flow of the story with irrelevant detail, stick to the plot. If it is not relevant, don’t put it in, because the reader just wants to jump ahead and see the sniper shoot a bad guy.

Never feel that you need to ‘pad out’ a story to make it longer.
